Officials noted that six weeks remain in the season, during which an estimated additional 60,000 tons can be shipped. Last season, exports reached 402,160 tons, according to the Cambio de Michoacán.

Before over 1,500 attendees of the State Committee of Plant Health, Antonio Guzman Castañeda, delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), addressed the crowd: “We must be prepared to grow and dominate the Asian and European market. We must work hard in the field, closely monitor safety and reduce chemical waste.”

Ramón Cano Vega, head of the Ministry of Rural Development (SEDRU) congratulated growers for the effort they make every day. Like SAGARPA, the organization noted it would continue to lend its support as both agencies work to the same end: to the benefit of producers.

Avocado Report
