STOCKTON, CA - Target shooting and bocce ball? Now here is a way to kick off an inaugural event. Last week I attended the "OG Packing Bocce Bash” in Stockton, California and it was far from a typical day in the office. The exciting afternoon provided growers and friends the opportunity to spend time with OG Packing owners and staff after the harvest, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
For nearly 30 years, OG Packing has carried on the tradition set in motion by the late Owner & Grower Vern Gogna. Vern began an annual Golf Tournament to show OG’s appreciation to its growers at the end of each harvest. This year, the event was elevated to new heights including target shooting, a bocce tournament, mini-Casino and several other great perks throughout the Thursday afternoon. The evening was capped with a Prime-Rib dinner and local wine-tasting with wines from growers and the Lodi Appellation.
There is not much of a break in the action these days, however, as Grower Direct, the marketing arm of OG Packing, is gearing up for one of the largest Mexican Asparagus harvests in its company’s history.
"We will be one of the largest importers of Mexican Asparagus into the United States this season," Jim Hanson, Managing Partner of Grower Direct, tells me. “The season looks strong this year, allowing us to provide high-quality product from December through the California deal.”
OG Packing and Cold Storage Company is a grower, packer, and shipper of sweet cherries, blueberries, apricots, and walnuts from California.
Thanks for the invite OG packing, see you next year!
