Weather has actually been untraditionally good for the whole Winter especially these last few weeks and coming out of February, so crops are looking great. We grow everything that you can imagine you can grow in a greenhouse from traditional Beefsteaks to all the Cocktail varieties to eggplant, we do it all. Supply will be fantastic this year. Peak season is traditionally May through June and then the crops start to slow down a little bit, but this year with the weather we are thinking we may be peaking a little bit sooner than normal. The market in general, due to such good weather and due to the overlap in supply is untraditionally low for this time of year. We are hoping to make it up in production, but it is very low and we are concerned.

Tony Coppola, Sales Manager, Clifford Produce

Our company is located in Ruthven, Ontario. Weather has been exceptionally well, we have broken records that are probably forty to fifty years old and crops are actually starting to come on earlier than projected. Peak season for us is probably mid-May and will run right until July. The market in general, we have had some issues with. Mexico is still supplying so we are overlapping with what we have coming on. We are just starting to step back into our market. Supply is just starting to trickle in. We started with Canadian production on Greenhouse items that will carry forth right through November. We are going to be starting here in full tilt in about two to three weeks.

Paul Mastronardi, President, Mastronardi Produce

We are harvesting at all our facilities in Ontario plus our facilities in the U.S. as well. Our cold water greenhouse is going to be growing year-round. We planted that just at the end of last year at it started to harvest last month. Current products are all products that range from tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and eggplant and all the specialty varieties as well. We are approaching full swing here, so we've been picking here for about a month now and peak is coming in about four weeks from now. Peak season for us is usually in May, that is when we are usually at our highest production periods here in Ontario. The market is actually climbing right now. We see that Easter ads and polls have been very big, and we are anticipating that market to carry through into May. Supply is coming up as well as we approach May, production is going to keep on climbing for us.
