Schools have been closed for nine days and the frigid ice and show has been wrecking havoc on distribution and roads across the northeast. According to Port City Daily, an emergency statement was issued urging people to stay off the roads as temperature rose to above freezing. Thankfully, the winter storm warning was canceled today as of 9 a.m., and Port of Wilmington has now opened despite a light wintry mix hitting the area.

Mike Rodgers, Director of East Coast Operations at The Giumarra Companies, tells AndNowUKnow that they are now shipping out of the Port of Wilmington. "Most retailers are closed because of the snow storm," he says. "We usually don't see that because stores usually stay open in bad weather, but people just can't get to work."

Another two inches of snow is expected to hit the region today. It's likely roads will be closed again tonight.

Other ports were also closed as a result of the snowstorm. The terminals that were closed in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey included Global Terminal, APM Berth 88, PNCT, and Maher.
