NORTH VANCOUVER AND MONTREAL, CANADA - Collaboration is the stuff of innovation, and the teams behind Sollum Technologies and Ecoation Innovative Solutions (d.b.a. ecoation) knows it. Sollum, which provides smart LED lighting solutions, recently announced that it and Ecoation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreement to explore the potential for future partnership.

Louis Brun, Chief Executive Officer, Sollum Technologies“Collaborating with ecoation is a tremendous opportunity for Sollum and will provide our smart lighting solution with new data sources,” stated Sollum CEO Louis Brun. “That data will enhance and refine the functionality of our SUN as a Service® platform, which means growers will benefit from more precise and sophisticated information when making decisions about the light spectra they apply to their crops. Our agreement with ecoation is yet another sign of the technological transformation underway in greenhouses.”

According to a press release, Sollum offers greenhouse producers an LED lighting solution that dynamically recreates, perfects, and modulates the full spectrum of the sun’s natural light. Through this MOU, the two companies will be able to explore new ways they both can add value to grower greenhouses. There is also opportunity to collect potential data-driven avenues for optimized plant lighting.

Since Ecoation’s OKO platform collects data at every row and post, this provides an operational visibility per square meter in addition to remote crop monitoring and AI-driven crop registration capabilities.

Dr. Saber Miresmailli, Chief Executive Officer, Ecoation Innovative Solutions“Light is an important element that impacts all aspects of the plant life cycle and plays a significant role in tritrophic interactions between plants, pests, and beneficials.” commented ecoation CEO Dr. Saber Miresmailli. “We are very excited to unlock the potential that comes through collaboration with Sollum. Combining our data harvesting capabilities and 3D environmental monitoring with Sollum’s light control technology will introduce a paradigm shift in ways light has been used in the greenhouse.”

Both companies are actively working to provide growers with enhanced insights by extending their ability to see the crop and providing more measurements, including optimized lighting. With complementary tech, the collaboration between the two will enable its grower partners to test and adopt new production methods. This could eventually lead to possibilities for new forms of cultivation—but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out!

We will continue to mine the depths of new industry partnerships, so stay tuned to us here at AndNowUKnow.
