LOS ANGELES, CA - The first weekend of May brought more than spring flowers to the southern California region. A sudden storm swept through the area, bringing hail, snow, and some record rainfall.
Snow levels were reported at around 5,000 to 6,000 feet, while a new rainfall record was set in Los Angeles County at .39 inches, according to the Associated Press.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the county, as well as neighboring Ventura county. The unseasonably wet weather fell onto L.A.’s elite as the MTV Movie & TV Awards rolled out the red carpet, and citizens took to social media as they watched precipitation history in the making.
Overall, though, the storm seems to have passed through as quickly as it came. Reports warned of light drizzles and the possibility of some lingering rain and snow into today, before returning to warming temperatures.
