WENATCHEE, WA - This May, Stemilt Growers is looking to give retailers an opportunity to put local educators in the spotlight while serving healthy snacks to the students with the a campaign rallying around its award-winning Lil Snappers®.

Brianna Shales, Communications Manager, Stemilt Growers“This new Lil Snappers promotion allows retailers to thank teachers for the great job they do in the local community throughout the year by providing a fresh donation of delicious, kid-sized apples to classrooms and schools,” Brianna Shales, Stemilt’s Communications Manager, said in a press release. “Apples are a symbolic gift to educators and teachers will be thrilled to provide their students with a healthy snack to fuel their body and minds.”

Taking place from May 1st through the 7th, the campaign falls right in line with the national Teacher's Appreciation Day on May 3rd.

Retail chains that run Lil Snappers® promotions during the first week of May will receive donated cases of kid-sized fruit with activity sheets, according to the grower, for use as a classroom project or for students to take home.

Stemilt stated that it endorses promotions on kid-favorite varieties and encourages retailers to construct school-themed displays for this national appreciation event.

As for which Lil Snappers to promote, the grower recommends promoting up to three Lil Snappers® apple varieties, particularly Pink Lady®, Gala, and Fuji Lil Snappers® for this point of the season.

“May is a great time to promote these three apple varieties. We reserve our best quality fruit for the spring and summer seasons. The great flavors and high quality of the fruit inside each three pound Lil Snappers pouch bag combine with the convenience of this branded package to make Lil Snappers a sought after item in the produce department – and with this promotion – in the classroom, too,” Shales said.

It will also provide the stores with resources to promote and market the campaign within the retailers' communities. These assets include POS signage to draw in customers, social media posts, and press releases.

Shales added that the signage for this promotion is customizable and can feature the store’s logo. “Using signage at the point-of-sale is a great vehicle for informing Lil Snappers shoppers – primarily parents – about the donation the retailer is making to local schools in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.”
