WOODLAND, CA - Syngenta Vegetable Seeds’ Future of Veg Field Days continue with an event in Woodland, California, taking place August 13–14. A few Syngenta experts sat down with me to discuss the details.

“The Woodland field days will showcase Syngenta's latest innovations in watermelon, cantaloupe, squash, beans, and pepper breeding programs,” Skyler Zapata, Product Specialist - Cucurbits for the West, began. “Attendees will get to see our new commercial varieties, as well as an exclusive view into upcoming varieties still in trialing. A highlight will be our new firm flesh varieties, Cato and Golden Crisp, which were specifically developed to supply the fresh cut and whole fruit markets.”

Skyler added that at the event, Syngenta will also highlight its IDEAL Melons program, which features an innovative color-changing rind that serves as a harvest indicator.

“Seed distributors, growers, brokers, and retailers will have the opportunity to engage with our sales, marketing, and R&D teams,” Miguel Guillen Cortes, Product Specialist - Tomato and Pepper, told me. “They are invited to evaluate our latest varieties and provide feedback that shapes our breeding and trialing programs. This direct interaction helps to ensure our breeding programs align with real-world market needs.”
