Much of the Northeast has been hit with wet snow and strong winds during the tail end of this week. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/new-jersey-cloud.jpg" alt="images030713" /></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Connecticut is expecting to be hit by 7 inches of heavy, wet snow and wind gusts that could hit 50 mph. A coastal flood warning was in effect starting Thursday morning for east-facing shores in Massachusetts, with up to a 3-foot surge at high tide in some areas. Central Massachusetts is bracing for 4 to 8 inches of snow.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The storm has already buried parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, but things are far from over.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The storm developing over the central U.S. is expected to bring severe weather to the southern plains and accumulating snows to the Midwest.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Despite transportation complications, the storm could prove to be beneficial for New Jersey growers.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> A spokesperson for the New Jersey Department of Agriculture told AndNowUKnow that at this time of year, snow provides a cover for the soil and when it melts, it regenerates the aquifers vital for farmers during dry spells during the growing season. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href=" http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/hpcdiscussions.php?disc=pmdspd" target="_new">Storm Update</a></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
