Wonderful® Pistachios Prepares to Debut Two New Flavors of its No Shell Lineup

LOS ANGELES, CA - From Van Halen to Hannah Montana, generations of pop culture icons have told us that having the best of both worlds is, well, the best. Wonderful® Pistachios is on a mission to continue the legacy of bringing together the best of two categories, unveiling two new popular flavors of its No Shell product line: BBQ and Sea Salt & Vinegar.
“Adding our new BBQ and Sea Salt & Vinegar flavors to our No Shells offerings presents a big opportunity for retailers, as these flavors will compete strongly in both the snack nuts and salty snacks categories,” said Adam Cooper, Senior Vice President. “Both new flavors have high purchase intent and appeal, and we know they’ll perform on par or better than Honey Roasted and Chili Roasted, which are also remaining part of our portfolio.”
Both BBQ and Sea Salt & Vinegar flavors come following the success of the Honey Roasted and Chili Roasted No Shell options that debuted in July 2019, and brought a plethora of new fans to the snack nuts category, according to a press release. The new flavors will be released in Spring of 2021 and are expected to continue the popularity of the No Shell lineup.
BBQ Wonderful Pistachios No Shells will give customers everywhere a smoky kick of summer flavor that can be enjoyed year-round. Taking traditional hickory-smoked flavor and combining it with garlic, paprika, and salt, BBQ is the perfect mix of sweet and tangy. The Sea Salt & Vinegar also backs a punch with its balance of sour and savory flavors that will have mouths watering. Each new variety infuses the classic flavors with six grams of protein to create a healthy snacking alternative to products like chips of the same flavors.
With the snack release slated for this coming spring, the No Shell flavors will be available in retailers across the U.S. and Canada and will come in 22-ounce, 11-ounce, 5.5-ounce, and 2.25-ounce bags. In stores, the new flavors will also be available as part of a 72-count display set debuting March 2021.
To emphasize the concept of healthy snacking through Wonderful Pistachios, the brand is rolling out a new icon that will be placed on its packaging in spring 2021 as well. The new icon will communicate to shoppers that they’re buying a plant-powered snack that offers more nutritional benefits than other popular snack choices.
Bringing a rock-star level splash to the debut of the new icon and flavors, Wonderful Pistachios has invested a $1 million marketing budget for the product launch, and a campaign that will drive awareness on social media and digital platforms, feature public relations activations and a dedicated FSI to drive trial.
