CAYCE, SC - The Ahold Delhaize banner, Food Lion, made an exciting announcement surrounding its expansion efforts. The retailer has opened its doors in a new region of the South Carolina market as it continues to build out its footprint on the East Coast.
According to The Lexington Ledger, the new store will be run by roughly 75 team members, bringing a new fleet of buy-side leaders to the sector. This location was part of Food Lion’s purchase of 62 BI-LO/Harveys Supermarkets, which we reported on in November 2020.
Fresh-cut fruits and vegetables, as well as prepared meals, are two categories that Food Lion is leading with at its new location. The news source went on to note that the retailer will be expanding its produce department by partnering with W.P. Rawl Farms for the first time.
Which of Food Lion’s acquired locations will be the next hub for expansion? Stay tuned as ANUK reports.
