Amsterdam - Ahold USA has achieved a new standing in its effort to reduce its carbon footprint. The organization has announced today that it is appearing on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's list of the largest green power purchases. The company holds position No. 7 on the EPA's Top 20 Retail list and No. 30 on the National Top 50 list. Annually, Ahold USA is currently purchasing over 149 million kilowatt-hours of green power, meeting 7 percent of its electricity use. The organization also buys renewable energy certificates from 3Degrees and is utilizing green power from its own on-site renewable energy systems.
