SOLEDAD, CA - Look out world! Braga Fresh is spicing up its roster with the introduction of Jason Duran as part of the Sales Team for the company’s brand, Josie’s Organics. With an extensive background in the organic produce industry, Duran will serve as a perfect fit for this dynamic company. With 25 years of service, he will bring a new set of expert skills that will lead Braga down a path of new sales growth.
“I am proud to join the Braga team and honored to be part of the mission to champion our organic program,” Duran said. “I look forward to learning and being on the production side of the industry.”
Before joining Braga in its organics mission, Duran held a series of roles, moving up the leadership ladder at the retail giant Whole Foods Market. Starting as a team member, he transitioned to regional produce buyer, distribution facility team leader, and Midwest region produce coordinator. Finally, ending his time at Whole Foods in the Purchasing Department at the Global Produce office in Watsonville, California.
“I started as a part-time team member in Austin while attending the University of Texas and quickly moved from the meat department to produce as I was intrigued by the variety and the dynamics of a produce team,” explained Duran. “I was hooked immediately. The store in Chicago was posted shortly after I graduated and that is where my career began. I made it a mission to learn all aspects of retail produce, which is why I held many positions over my time with Whole Foods.”
As a connoisseur of all things organic, Duran has honed his knowledge throughout the years, and is now implementing new strategies that bolster the category at other companies. In his latest position, he will be responsible for sales and category management, further working to promote organics. He will work in tandem with Greg McAlister to ensure the category success.
“We are pleased to have Jason join our team as we continue to grow; his experience with Whole Foods Market and the organic produce industry will have an immediate positive impact on our team,” said Greg McAlister, Vice President of Organic Sales.
