CALIFORNIA, US - California celery markets showed mixed movement as fairly light to moderate demand continued across growing regions, according to the August 17th, 2026 USDA National FOB Report.

In the Salinas-Watsonville region, the market was slightly lower amid fairly light demand, with harvest curtailed due to market conditions. The USDA reported a wide range in price, quality, and condition. Cartons of 2 dozen, 2 1/2 dozen, and 3 dozen celery ranged from $10.50 to $18.75, mostly $13.65 to $16.75, with occasional higher pricing. Celery hearts in cartons of 18 film bags ranged from $13.50 to $20.90, mostly $14.50 to $17.75, with occasional higher pricing.

In Santa Maria, demand was moderate, and the market was about steady, with quality reported as generally good. Cartons of 2 dozen and 2 1/2 dozen celery ranged from $10.55 to $14.35, mostly $11.55 to $13.55, with occasional higher and lower pricing.

For organic celery from California’s South and Central District, demand was fairly light, and the market was about steady. Cartons of 2 dozen and 2 1/2 dozen ranged from $23 to $30, mostly $24 to $28, with occasional higher and lower pricing. Organic celery hearts in cartons of 18 film bags ranged from $25.95 to $33, mostly $26.95 to $30.95, with occasional higher and lower pricing.

Looking ahead, industry sources note that celery supplies could tighten as disease pressure affects yields. With planting volumes already pared back in line with seasonal demand, reduced yields could give the market some upward momentum heading into the fall holiday season.
