WATSONVILLE, CA - A new label is turning the spotlight on Florida-grown strawberries thanks to California Giant Berry Farms. As the company reported, California Giant’s Florida-based grower partners are on track to deliver strong volumes of organic and conventionally grown strawberries, bringing peak promotable volumes to market from mid-February to mid-March. This abundant crop marks the debut of California Giant’s new Fresh From Florida label.
“Despite the challenges our strawberry crops encountered last year, California Giant growers, as well as the industry as a whole have shown resilience,” shared Alan Ediger, Vice President of Sales at California Giant Berry Farms. “We are looking forward to a strong spring crop throughout our growing regions this year and will continue to uphold our standards to deliver the best quality available to our customers.”
Promoting Florida agricultural products through consumer marketing campaigns, partnerships with domestic and international retailers, and an established presence at prominent industry tradeshows, the new label is an exciting addition to California Giant’s berry portfolio.
The strawberry purveyor’s strong Florida yields come following a challenging 2023 of suboptimal weather, a press release explained.
In addition to its Florida crop, the supplier’s strawberry spring crop production is also underway in the Santa Maria, Oxnard, and Mexico growing regions. As the release noted, Oxnard’s current production of conventional fruit is slated to provide a stable supply of strawberries through the end of May, and the Santa Maria growing region is ramping up production gradually, with a steady supply of quality conventional and organic fruit spanning the winter and spring months.
Strawberries from Mexico are currently in peak production, which is forecasted to span the month of February and into March—perfect for Valentine’s Day promotions and the weeks following!
