Jewel-Osco’s acquired Dominick’s stores have just closed on Sunday, but the company may have big plans in mind as the stores re-open under their new banner later this week if we consider its latest renovations.
Allison Sperling, Jewel-Osco spokeswoman, said that the company recently renovated 18 of its 176 stores at a cost of about $1 million apiece. These changes focus on fresher produce and better customer service, along with a larger selection of pre-cut fruit and vegetables and new juice bars that offer celery, kale, and carrot concoctions, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
Although she declined to mention if new or already existing Jewel-Osco stores would be getting a similar overhaul, Sperling did say that the company will continue “to aggressively update” its appearance. Currently, the company is not looking to buy any additional Dominick’s locations, but will continue to evaluate any future opportunities that arise regarding other locations.
The Dominick’s locations that have closed on Sunday include:
• 1340 S. Canal St., Chicago
• 2550 N. Clybourn Avenue, Chicago
• 1340 Patriot Blvd., Glenview
• 14200 S. Bell Road, Homer Glen
