BAKERSFIELD, CA - An organic Mecca of sorts, the Organic Produce Summit (OPS) hosted by Organic Produce Network (OPN) is one of those shows that everyone who’s anyone will be attending. A staple in the Bakersfield, California, ag community, Country Sweet Produce is ready to talk shop about its organic sweet potato pack styles now available under its Bako Sweet® signature brand.
“We’re really excited about our newly designed Bako Sweet steam bags showcasing our organic sweet potatoes in a bold new way,” shares Alexandra “Rae” Molumby, Marketing Manager. “There are three 14 oz steam bags, and each houses a different variety: orange sweet potatoes, purple sweet potatoes, and white sweet potatoes.”
Across each package, there is recipe inspiration for appetite appeal and nutritional call-outs to clearly communicate health benefits to the consumer.
“The packaging also features a colorful design for increased shelf visibility,” Rae imparts. “We simplified the messaging to be more consumer friendly, so that consumers are able to better read which variety they’re adding to the basket.”
Prescott Leyba, CSP’s Sales Account Manager, adds, “The new sweet potato crop is already being harvested and it is looking great in these new colorful bags. It is right on time for the seasonal Thanksgiving push, and we have gotten great feedback from retailers saying that this packaging is fantastic.”
One such retailer is Safeway, whose Brian Porter is ecstatic with the product.
“We are excited about offering these new steam bags to our shoppers for a number of reasons,” comments the Regional Director of Corporate Produce. “Shoppers are looking for a healthy product that doesn’t take too much time out of their day, and the Bako Sweet steam bags are a simple solution.
