<p>Del Monte Foods' canned food business looks like it could be up for grabs. Fresh Del Monte and Pinnacle Foods reported as being among the companies considering offers for the company's canned foods business, according to Reuters. The deal could be worth over $1.5 billion, four people familiar with the process were sourced as saying. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Del Monte Foods, backed by private equity firms including KKR & Co LP (KKR.N) and Centerview Partners, has been exploring a sale of its canned foods business which has been slow to grow. With the sale, the company could concentrate on its pet foods unit.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Del Monte Fresh and Del Monte Foods were not immediately available for comment.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The sources noted, Del Monte Foods is in talks with companies in the food industry about the sale but has not focused on communicating with private equity buyers as of yet. The process is still in the early stages, the report states. A group of private equity firms led by KKR and Centerview acquired Del Monte Foods in 2011 for $5.3 billion including debt.
