He will continue to serve as a company director, according to press releases.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Mr. Beckers will stay in his post until a new CEO is appointed with a smooth transition as part of Delhaize’s succession plan. He will continue to serve on the Board, in a non-executive capacity.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Mr. Beckers started his career with Delhaize in 1983 and has been a Director of the company since 1995. He was appointed President and CEO in January 1999. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Since 1999, the number of stores has grown from 1,904 to3,411 in ten countries on three continents and revenues grew from €12.9 to €22.6 billion. The Board of Directors is conducting a search for a successor which it hopes to complete by the end of 2013.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><img class="small-cropped-image" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/Pierre-Olivier-Beckers_president_delhaize_may_2013_BODY01.jpg" alt="images 050913" />Mats Jansson, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said, “Pierre-Olivier Beckers has worked for Delhaize for 30 years with tireless energy and absolute passion, displaying very strong values and great respect for people.
