FMI Recognizes Various Food Industry Innovators, Leaders, and Retail Icons

<p> During its Midwinter Executive Conference, the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) recognized various food retail and industry icons and leaders for their efforts, achievements, and service to the community, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/FMI_awards_jan_2014_Body_01.jpg" alt="Cropped Images January 13th 2014" />Bristol Farms’ President and CEO Kevin Davis was presented the Robert B. Wegman Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence. He is being honored for his creative spirit and dedication to the food retail community, serving on FMI’s Board of Directors and as chairman of the 2014 Midwinter Executive Conference. He is rewarded by the dedication and longevity of the people who work with him.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/FMI_awards_jan_2014_Body_02.jpg" alt="Cropped Images January 13th 2014" />Associated Grocers’ President and CEO Jay Campbell received the Herbert Hoover Award for humanitarian service in the food industry. His concern and selflessness for the community was best revealed in his crisis response to Hurricane Katrina, and his efforts to assist in rebuilding the communities affected in the years ahead.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/FMI_awards_jan_2014_Body_03.jpg" alt="Cropped Images January 13th 2014" />Hy-Vee’s recently retired, Vice President, Education and Governmental Affairs, Rose Mitchell, was awarded the most prestigious award in governmental relations, the Glen P. Woodward, Jr. Public Affairs Award. She epitomized the ideal lobbyist for the industry and was active in federal and state politics and policy through her participation in FMI’s Government Relations Committee for nearly two decades.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/FMI_awards_jan_2014_Body_04.jpg" alt="Cropped Images January 13th 2014" />Schnuck’s Director, Consumer Affairs, and Community Relations, Joanie Taylor, won the FMI Esther Peterson Award for her commitment as both advocate and voice of the consumer.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/FMI_awards_jan_2014_Body_05.jpg" alt="Cropped Images January 13th 2014" />Price Chopper’s Executive Chairman of the Board, Neil Golub, was presented the Sidney R. Rabb Award for his statesmanship and community service, the highest honor during the conference. He is a recognized humanitarian and public servant in his community, upstate New York and the entire food retail industry.
