Food Lion Expands in Five States, Adds 800 Jobs

The retailer recently announced it has made investments in 178 stores in five states that include Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia while also creating 800 new jobs to support the efforts. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Food Lion’s investments are presenting customers with lower prices on 6,000 items throughout the store and access to quality store brand products at lower prices, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/food_lion_expantion_may_2013_BODY00.jpg" alt="Images 051513" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">These efforts also include a reinvigorated focus on its produce as part of its “Fresh From the Field” initiative. Better quality, enhanced freshness and expanded variety in Food Lion’s produce section are in the works with Food Lion’s produce backed by a double-your-money-back guarantee. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The company is holding grand re-opening festivities at the 178 stores and will provide the first 50 customers at each location with a bag of free groceries through Saturday, May 18.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Food Lion is also planning a week of giving with donations of fresh produce and store brand products to local charities, including $5,000 to the Maryland Food Bank in Baltimore, Md.; $5,000 to the Delaware Food Bank in Milford, Del.; $5,000 to the Fredericksburg Food Bank in Fredericksburg, Va.; and $5,000 to the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington, D.C. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href=" http://www.delhaizegroup.com/en/Home.aspx" target="_new"> Food Lion</a></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
