West Des Moines, Iowa<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Hy-Vee celebrated Earth Day last week with the launch of two initiatives that emphasize its commitment to sustainability. The company developed a new website, Hy-Vee 360, that is devoted to healthy living and sustainability while providing consumers and the public with a behind-the-scenes look at the company's efforts to create a greener company. Part of these efforts is Hy-Vee’s partnership with FishWise. The non-profit organization provides assistance that helps retailers develop and implement sustainable seafood policies. The site utilizes colorful graphics and pop-up windows to illustrate to viewers how eco-friendly initiatives are implemented in a Hy-Vee stores. Hy-Vee dishes on green building practices, energy conservation, waste reduction and recycling, local sourcing of products, sustainable packaging, and more. The resource also highlights healthy living through in-store dietitians, HealthMarket departments and the NuVal nutritional scoring system.
