Kroger has strengthened its workforce by more than 7,000 new associates through 2013 – 90% of which are in the company’s supermarket divisions, according to a press release.
“We are proud that Kroger’s growth has created 40,000 new American jobs during the last six years,” said Katy Barclay, Senior Vice President of Human Resources. “New jobs mean new opportunities for our associates and greater economic impact in the local communities we serve.”
Since the past six years, Kroger has created over 40,000 new jobs, not including those created as a result of capital investment, such as temporary construction jobs, or those from the recent Harris Teeter acquisition. Today, Kroger has employed more than 375,000 associates, including 22,456 veterans since 2009.
Kroger is a key member in the coalition of more than 130 companies whose common goal is to hire more than 100,000 transitioning service members and military veterans by 2020 as part of their “100,000 Jobs Mission.”
Congrats and keep it up, Kroger!
