<p>There may be a $225 million industrial project in the works for Kroger in the metro Atlanta area. The company would need between 1 million and 1.5 million-square-feet for the project, including a distribution center, freezer component and truck maintenance facility, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Industrial real estate sources familiar with the plans note that the retailer has considered the campus-like project for months, and has scouted several properties of interest. A 300-acre site at Fulton County Airport - Brown Field, just west of Atlanta, has emerged as a candidate to land Kroger, sources said, but the company is still considering other development sites.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">It’s one of several projects scouting metro Atlanta that underscore an active industrial real estate sector, a good sign for the regional economy.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Should Kroger decide to build its project elsewhere, Fulton County has other alternatives for the airport. Majestic Realty and the county are working on a proposal that involves developing around 2.8 million square feet for an industrial project.
