Kroger recently announced plans to construct a Kroger Marketplace in Hampton Roads Crossings, a community located in North Suffolk, Virginia. Construction on the store, the second in the area, is slated to begin July 2013.

The Marketplace will combine a top-tier grocery store with 30,000 square feet of non-grocery offerings ranging from furniture to home décor. Established appliance brands, storage needs, kitchenware, office supplies, toys and much more will fill the non-grocery aisles.
“Since first entering the market 10 years ago, we’ve learned a lot from the community and what our customers look for in a grocer,” said Jay Cummins, President of Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division. “Suffolk deserves a top-quality grocery experience and that includes local products, home goods, clean stores, low prices, and, of course, exceptional customer service.”
The store will be approximately 123,000 square-feet and will offer customers an enhanced shopping experience at the same competitive, low prices offered at other area Kroger stores.
“The Kroger Marketplace is the latest major component in achieving the vision of Hampton Roads Crossing, a truly integrated community of homes, high-quality shopping, and a cutting-edge employment center,” said John Peterson III, senior vice president, development at The Terry Peterson Companies, the developer of Hampton Roads Crossing. “Hampton Roads Crossing is about a lifestyle, and the Kroger Marketplace fits perfectly.”
