WATSONVILLE, CA - If you frequent the AndNowUKnow home page, then you are well aware of the recent rises in pricing in the cauliflower category. To get a deeper understanding of the market, I sought insight from year-round cauliflower supplier Lakeside Organic Gardens, and Sales Manager Brian Peixoto provided me with some of the details of the current crop.
“Our cauliflower program is year-round,” begins Brian. “Currently, we are growing cauliflower in the Imperial Valley of California until the end of March, when we will transition back to growing in California’s Pajaro Valley. The market remains steady, and we are seeing average volume with superb quality.”
As Brian explains, recent months have shown fluctuating demand in the market, with market prices remaining higher than usual.
“Regarding demand, the past few months have been a bit of a roller coaster. There have been ups and downs similar to many other categories,” Brain explains. “In terms of pricing, market prices on cauliflower have been higher based on supply and demand.”
