CAPISTRANO BEACH, CA - It’s hard to go on an exploration of the squash sector and not think of LIV Organic™ Produce. As a year-round supplier of hard squash, the grower is able to wield its 52-week fulfillment network to provide retailers with an ample supply of high-quality Acorn, Butternut, Delicata, Kabocha, Spaghetti, and Pie Pumpkins varieties, great for the fall and winter holidays.

Anthony Innocenti, Managing Partner, LIV Organic™ Produce“We’re right in the midst of our new California crop across all of our varieties,” Anthony Innocenti, Managing Partner, explains when I ask him about LIV’s current season. “There is currently substantially less hard squash volume overall in the industry due to labor and water challenges, with many growers not producing hard squash at all this year.”

Despite these tight industry volumes, LIV Organic Produce remains well-poised to have a strong holiday season.

In fact, the company’s hard squash acreage is up approximately 20 percent over last year.

“The retail demand for hard squash is still strong, and LIV Organic is doing really well in the category because we control all of our production and fulfillment. We really put additional resources into our hard squash to produce a premium product,” Anthony explains.

One example he points to is the supplier’s top-quality Butternut squash, which is hand rotated on the vine during production to achieve an inviting, deep orange color and a sweet, dense flesh. LIV Organic’s in-depth growing processes and commitment to quality make the company an ideal partner, especially in the hard squash sector.

“It’s really imperative that you follow the rotational crop schedule year over year because it affects the yields and the quality of the hard squash,” Anthony notes, highlighting another differentiating factor for LIV Organic. “Thankfully, by growing in our microclimates with strict guidelines on our rotational crops, the yields and quality are some of the best in the business.”

Don’t just take our word for it. Put these premium varieties in your produce department and the consumer response will speak for itself.
