<p>Marsh Supermarkets has announced to its employees that it is closing 8 of its 86 stores by the end of the month, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“Customers have spoken and we are reacting to the realities of the markets and making difficult decisions to address the long-term health of the company,” Marsh said in a prepared statement. “This action is the first part of a three-year plan we are implementing this year to position Marsh Supermarkets for growth and profitability. Our strategy is to remodel, rebuild and re-banner our properties.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">In the statement, a Marsh representative also said that the company is working with employees from the closing stores in order to place them elsewhere within the organization, if possible. For employees unable to be placed, a severance package will be offered.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Marsh is currently operated by Sun Capital Partners, a Florida-based company which bought the supermarket chain in 2006.
