ALBANY, NY - Price Chopper/Market 32 is advancing toward an even bigger geographical footprint with the finalized purchase of five ShopRite locations. The company announced plans to convert two of these stores, located in Niskayuna and North Greenbush, New York, into Market 32-branded stores.

Blaine Bringhurst, President, Price Chopper/Market 32“Our Market 32 brand has been extremely well-received and this gives us an excellent opportunity to expand our footprint in the Capital Region,” Blaine Bringhurst, President of Price Chopper/Market 32, said in a statement to Times Union.

The retailer has not yet announced its plans for the remaining purchased locations, with many speculating on what it will mean for the current Price Choppers that are nearby in Westgate and Colonie plazas. Both of these stores have not yet been converted to the Market 32 brand.

“As discussions with landlords in Albany and Colonie continue, decisions will be made about the future of those properties and the current Price Chopper/Market 32s,” the statement read.

A Price Chopper spokesman also noted that there are no plans to close a store in Schenectady that would be close to the location where a Market 32 is slated to open in Niskayuna.

We will continue to report on the results of this strategic deal as more updates come to light.
