Publix supermarkets has just announced its sale of the restaurant chain “Crispers” to a company called Healthy Food Concepts, which is affiliated with the Miami based investment group Boyen Capital Partners. Publix is selling the salad and sandwich shop in order to re-devote itself to its grocery business, according to CEO Ed Crenshaw, who stated “This opportunity gives us the ability to continue to be passionately focused on our core business, our customers and the products and services we offer within our grocery retail environment.” Publix had first invested in Crispers in 2002 and bought the chain outright in 2007. Healthy Food Concepts will keep the cafes operating as usual while Publix centralizes its business priorities.
