People lucky enough to sport an iphone 3 or 4G just got even luckier. That’s because the retail chain Stop &Shop just introduced a program called Scan It! Mobile that enables customers to take virtually the entire shopping experience to their phones. Customers can download the application for free at either the apple store or the Stop& Shop website, and are then able to scan items in the store to shop, tally and ultimately even check out, all via smartphone. Stop &Shop New England Division President, Mark McGowan stated, “It’s about customer choice… We’ve received tremendous feedback on our Scan It! technology because it allows customers to simplify their shopping experience”. Catering to customer preferences has the potential to pay off big time for grocer as excitement about the new technology builds.
