MCALLEN, TX - As Christmas comes just around the bend, nothing denotes the holiday season more than the colors of red and green in my house. While I scan the produce aisles, full of festive cheer, I tap Tony Incaviglia, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for GR Fresh, as I—and other shoppers—decorate our kitchens with seasonal produce.

Tony Incaviglia, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, GR Fresh“With Christmas pull quickly approaching, opportunities to promote will be plentiful, so buyers should not be shy to reach out to buy early and often,” Tony tells me. “Right now, we’re pulling from Sonora, Sinaloa, and Michoacán in Mexico, and supply will continue to be consistent with excellent assessments.”

Production for GR Fresh began several weeks ago on Grape tomatoes, eggplants, green bell peppers, green beans, cucumbers, zucchini, and yellow squash. These colorful products make for great, warming dishes to fill up the table for any occasion this season, and shoppers will be excited to stock up their carts in the coming weeks.

Over in Michoacán, avocados have been plentiful for the grower, while new crop Roma and Round Vine-Ripened tomatoes are projected for after the first of the year out of Sinaloa. These results are music to our ears as GR Fresh experienced some weather issues in the past few months.

“Most of the weather issues from Tropical Cyclone Orlene and Hurricane Roslyn had hit heavy just south of our growing regions, but we were able to escape most of the effects with minimal damage to our supply,” Tony continues. “As a result, there was plenty of water available for the growing season, and we anticipate meeting demands this season.”

I foresee a holly celebration this month with these excellent categories decking the produce halls, so fa-la-la-la-long with ANUK as we continue to report.
