Trader Joe's Sets Opening Date of First Austin-Area Store

<p>Its official, Trader Joe's has announced the opening date for its first Austin store. The California-based grocer's first Central Texas location will welcome shoppers on Friday, Sept. 20.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The location was formerly home to a Sprouts grocery store and boasts an 11,000 square-foot location. Although it wasn't the first Trader Joe's announced for Austin, it will be the first to open its doors, according to a report in Austin360. Last year, Trader Joe's revealed that it would open a store in the Seaholm development in downtown. That store should break ground sometime this year but won't open for some time.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">In addition, Trader Joe's has plans for at least two area stores, including a possible third, yet unconfirmed location in the Arboretum. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Trader Joes has also expanded its footprint this year with the announcement of a new distribution center. Set to open later this year, the warehouse may end up serving surrounding states as well.
