PROVIDENCE, RI - A strong and ambitious team is key to the success of any long-term strategy, and United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) is well aware of this philosophy. Advancing its growth blueprint, the distributor has announced its new General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Mahrukh Hussain, who will oversee the company’s legal and governance activities.

In her new role, Hussain will leverage over 20 years of global experience with McDonald’s to support the distributor’s senior leadership team as they execute UNFI’s Fuel the Future strategy. She will also be responsible for all UNFI legal activities including compliance, employment law, securities, and Board governance, strategic transactions and contracts, and real estate, according to a press release.
Hussain currently serves as McDonald’s Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial and Privacy Officer, and her appointment at UNFI is effective on May 16, 2022.
During her two-decade tenure with McDonald’s, Hussain held various legal positions. Most recently, she oversaw global responsibility for commercial transactions, marketing, intellectual property, technology, privacy and safety, security, and intelligence.
