In response to consumer demand, United Supermarkets is slated to open Lubbock’s third Market Street location. The 71,238 square foot venture reflects the company's million-dollar investment in its health-and-wellness product line as well as its effort to be an environmentally responsible corporate participant. Though the location will be the largest in Lubbock it will be leaving the lightest mark it can with efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by utilizing the latest high-efficiency HVAC systems, LEDs and high-efficiency fluorescents, and light harvesting just to name a few of its green endeavors. Upon approaching the store, shoppers will be drawn toward a single entrance, where guests will enter the location on a "fresh" note - immediately into the produce department at the front of the store. The floral department will be situated directly to the right. Wes Jackson, Chief Merchandising Officer for United Supermarkets, LLC, states, “Produce is one of our best departments – a real differentiator for us. It will, we believe, continue to grow in importance for our guests as they become more health-conscious and change the way they eat.”
