US Foods has agreed to acquire Hawkeye Foodservice Distribution, Inc. Hawkeye is one of the largest independently owned broadline foodservice distributors, serving more than 4,000 customers that include independent restaurants, health care facilities and schools. Hawkeye's distribution center in Iowa City, Iowa, will serve as US Foods’ first distribution center in the state. The transaction is expected to be completed in early August. Keith Knight, Central Region President, US Foods, states, “Hawkeye is an outstanding company with a deep commitment to food and customer service.” Mr. Knight continues, “Adding the Hawkeye business to US Foods will enable us to better serve our customers throughout Iowa and expand our presence in this region.” Jeff Braverman, President of Hawkeye adds, “US Foods is committed to providing customers with top notch service and innovative product offerings that will create new opportunities for Hawkeye customers."
