Rosemont, IL - US Foods has activated its third solar array installation, a 905 kilowatt, photovoltaic solar panel system at its Phoenix division. This new feat makes the venture one of the largest rooftop installations in Phoenix. It is expected to provide 15 percent of the division’s annual power needs. The array boasts the ability to produce 1.5 million kilowatt hours at its peak, equivalent to the energy required to power 140 homes. The US Foods distribution center in Phoenix is a Certified Green Business facility. The solar panel installation is being leased from Del Solar, an international company providing solutions for renewable. The Phoenix Division also includes sustainable features like energy-efficient lighting. The facility will also be putting into practice recycling, water and fuel reduction programs. Tom Kertis, Phoenix division president of US Foods states “US Foods is committed to reducing its environmental impact and taking steps to safeguard the environment.” Mr. Kertis affirms, “Our new solar panel system will help us meet our goal of conserving resources while continuing to meet our customers’ needs.”

www.usfoods.com
