Village Farms has a new locally grown program in the works in the great state of Texas. The Texas Grown concept was developed from the growing consumer interest for locally raised fruits and vegetables, according to a press release.

Helen L. Aquino, Marketing Manager for Village Farms, states, “Consumers want to understand where their food is grown while supporting their local farmers and economy and so this seal gives folks that assurance.”

The Texas Grown seal was designed to easily inform consumers that the product is grown in Texas. The seal utilizes the iconic shape of Texas for quick identification with a dynamic green color used to promote the feeling of growth and product freshness. The “Texas Grown” script font contributes to the farm fresh authenticity.

Michael DeGiglio, President and CEO for Village Farms, notes, “Texas is unique in that in addition to the aforementioned attributes for ‘local’ Texans have a strong sense of place and thus are motivated by ‘locale’; meaning they are looking to support food grown and produced in the state simply because of their strong affinity and pride for their home state of Texas.” DeGiglio continues, “This may be more of a driver than the economic or environmental aspects of reducing food miles and one we wish to highlight since we are in fact the largest producer of tomatoes in the Great state of Texas. And we are very proud to be growers there for the past several decades."

Check out the company at PMA Fresh Summit 2013 in New Orleans in October at booth number 1947 to view Village Farms' full line of Texas Grown products.

Village Farms
