BENTONVILLE, AR - Walmart is making a major move in its Thanksgiving strategy again this year. The retailer has announced that it will close its more than 4,600 stores across the United States for 24 hours on November 28.
According to El Adelantado US, Walmart has decided to shut down operations for Thanksgiving this year as a way to support a better work-life balance for its employees and clients. Because of this policy, Walmart's 1.6 million employees across the U.S. can spend Thanksgiving at home this year.
The retailer has made this a tradition since, in 2020, Walmart wanted to give its employees a well-deserved break during the pandemic. Chief Executive Officer John Furner stated that the idea originally came from one of Walmart’s employees in Texas.
