Walmart's Same-day Delivery Service

Sun. October 14th, 2012

Walmart has taken a cue from their online competitor Amazon.com and has begun testing a same-day delivery service. Walmart first tested the service in San Jose in 2010 reaching the San Francisco Bay area last year and will now expand the test to select markets across the country. The option will become available to customers placing orders before noon and will include over 5,000 items to choose from. There will be a set minimum order amount and will cost consumers $10, regardless of the number of items ordered. According to an article in The Washington Post, Ravi Jariwala, a spokesperson for Walmart said, “Connecting our website with 4,000 physical stores across the country really gives us a leg up.” This delivery option is in direct competition with Amazon, which is said to have begun building distribution centers around the country to enable the same-day service option on a wide scale.
