HOLLY SPRINGS, NC - It seems like just yesterday that Wegmans released its plans to build a full-service, regional distribution operation in Hanover County, creating 700 new jobs. As promised, the company has continued its expansion across the Eastern Seaboard this week, announcing the finalization of a $6-million-dollar deal that will result in a new North Carolina store.
This announcement follows Wegmans’ release in August that detailed several new locations to be developed in the future. According to Triangle Business Journal, the new Holly Springs store will be one of six that will populate the area. The site was purchased from Lowe’s Companies and is situated on 12.5 acres.
Although Wegmans did not immediately confirm the whispers of this new store, its color scheme and iconic clock tower gave it away, and the retailer has now officially confirmed the plans. The news source also noted that Wegmans is developing mixed-use hubs surrounding the new stores.
