Wegmans’ nutritionists have created an easy to follow plan called “Half-Plate Healthy” which aims to keep hunger away with right-size portions of foods you really like, without counting calories and other hassles that come with dieting. The simple rule suggests you fill half of your plate with veggies, fruit and salad and the other half plate with anything else you desire. Wegmans nutritionist Jennifer Felice, R.D., stated, “if you’re eating fruits, vegetables or salads along with the rest of your meal, you’re giving your body enough time to register the feelings of fullness that let you leave the table satisfied. If you want seconds, then we say fill your plate again the half-plate healthy way.” Other tips Felice suggests include starting your meal with a salad or soup, enjoying fish often, and eating healthy snacks in between meals to keep your appetite in check.
