Whole Foods to Acquire Upwards of Seven Former Dominick's Stores

<p>Whole Foods Market is said to be acquiring upwards of as many as 7 Dominick's locations in Chicago, Illinois and surrounding suburbs, according to The Chicago Tribune. The publication attributed the recent news to unnamed sources.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Dominick's parent company Safeway shuttered the remaining unsold Dominick’s in December. Since the store closures, a host of new owners have snagged a piece of the Dominick’s pie from Joe Caputo &amp; Sons Fruit Market to Tony's Finer Foods, Garden Fresh Market, Pete’s Fresh Market, and Cermak Fresh Market. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Roundy's Supermarkets also acquired 11 Dominick’s stores for $36 million while Jewel Osco also purchasing four locations.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>According to the report, Whole Foods already has 19 stores in the Chicago area. The company is also planning to open three more stores in Andersonville and Hyde Park in Chicago and Lake Forest in addition to purchasing the former Dominick’s locations.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Whole Foods reported sales of $12.9 billion in fiscal 2013, a 13% increase from the year before with net income for the year at $551 million.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The addresses, according to the sources, are:<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">- 1 N.
