The much-anticipated store, which opened on September 18, reflects the company’s mission of supporting locally-sourced and locally-made products, sustainable agriculture, and the environment.Designed and built with the environment in mind, the architecture reflects a relaxed and modern-meets-classic southwestern approach along with nods to the mid-century design movement, according to a press release. The store’s interior takes inspiration from the flat surfaces and hard angles of desert environments and is complemented by typography, vibrant patterns, streamlined geometric illustrations, and bright earthy color.

The Camelback store will feature an extensive produce section with seasonal varieties, including locally grown fruits and vegetables like apples and pears from Briggs & Eggers, Willcox potted kitchen herbs, and Sunizona squash and tomatoes. Avocados, a Southwestern staple, are displayed in two ways – ripe, ready to eat avocados and two-to-three day ripe avocados. “The Squeeze” juice bar also offers fresh produce by the glass.

To continue celebrating the store’s grand opening and to demonstrate Whole Foods Market’s commitment to the community, the new Camelback store will also be hosting a community giving day on September 25th. The store will donate 5% of the day’s net sales to Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the healing powers of artistic expression into the lives of abused, neglected, and at risk children and their families.

Whole Foods Market
