<p>Whole Foods Market will open its seventh San Francisco store on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with regional and store leadership, as well as District 8 City Supervisor Scott Wiener, on hand for a bread-breaking ceremony. The 2001 Market St. store is the company’s 31st in the Bay Area, according to a press release.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>“Mission Dolores and The Castro are such unique and exciting neighborhoods; we can’t wait to meet this new community,” said Paula Richmond, store team leader. “We’ll have all our regular healthy and über-local food options, plus some cool new services like a shoeshine station, fresh cut-to-order honeycomb, a Paleo bar, an oyster shuck pop-up and a coffee bar close to the entrance, so it’s easy to grab a cup while you’re waiting for the bus.”</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>This location will present high quality produce with 30 to 80 percent (percentage varies seasonally) of products sourced annually from local growers. A wide selection of organic items, with pre-cut fruit and vegetables prepared in-house will be available as well as a variety of more than 20 fresh-squeezed juices. The store features a jar exchange program for fresh juice. Customers can also choose bananas, mangoes, peppers and pineapples with the Whole Trade® seal, which indicates Whole Foods Market’s commitment to offering the highest quality fairly-traded goods that ensure farmworkers are treated ethically and fairly. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>In addition a Meat department will feature a meat counter with special offerings, including local Panorama organic grass-fed and grass-finished beef, as well as Country Natural grain-finished beef from cattle that have never been in a feedlot. An Artisan Bakery will offer Made Right Here hearth breads, seasonal pound cakes and upside down cakes baked from scratch daily. Prepared foods, made by a team of in-house chefs will feature seasonal soups; burrito station with classic and healthy options; sandwich and pizza stations; sushi made on site; and an extensive salad bar featuring organic offerings. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The 28,000-square-foot stores speak to the diverse urban neighborhood and features eclectic, playful, yet refined and glamorous décor. Steel structures and plywood were used to make canopies, while retro acrylic shades will be offset by the surrounding glass windows and steel beams; top-hat-shaped lights illuminate the shoeshine station; and stripes, Victorian shapes, urban art influences and tongue-in-cheek verbiage will decorate the location.
