Whole Foods Market knows that there is there is no better way to go green and spark a little creativity than with a contest. During Earth Month, the company held a behind-the-scenes contest for its store marketing teams, inviting them to create store displays to promote the store's Whole Trade® produce, Green Mission, Eco-Scale Rating System and seafood sustainability. The creations were required to be repurposed waste materials from the store. The 38 Whole Foods marketing team entries were judged based on the creative use of recycled materials, visual appeal and the effectiveness of the message. The winning display went to the Lexington Green, Kentucky location with alarge fish made from coffee sleeves, cardboard boxes, foil scraps from winebottle seals, scrap plastic and plywood. The Pearl store in Boulder, Colorado and the Tenleytown location in Washington, DC were two of the runners up. The contest was one of the ways that Whole Foods Market continues to strengthen their commitment to reducing its impact on the earth.
