C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. has done its part this past September to honor the ideas and the objectives of national Hunger Action Month. The company sought to continue its commitment to supporting initiatives to stop hunger and promote health and enrichment in surrounding communities. Through a strong integration of support and action, the employees made a enormous impact during Hunger Action Month. The company made this all possible via individual backing, food donations and investments in Feeding America and member food banks. C&S held its 9th annual Food for Kids Drive at all locations and matched each pound of food donated with a $1 contribution to Feeding America. The contribution supports the expansion of the BackPack Program which aspires to meet the needs of children affected by the struggle with hunger.

During the month, C&S also made special donations to Foodshare's Convoy of Caring event, and the Vermont Food Bank's Hurricane Irene relief. The company's corporate headquarters hosts two organic gardens where employees have been investing their love and care to produce a projected one ton of fresh vegetables at harvest for specified community kitchens. The cause, for C&S Wholesale Grocers, is not just isolated to the month of September. The company regularly donates to local food banks, the whole year through. Gina Goff, Director of Community Involvement stated, "Our employees as individuals, and our company as a whole, have rallied again during Hunger Action Month." Ms. Goff continued, "What we accomplished took the form of action, investment and food to make a difference in the lives of children and families." C&S’ corporate responsibility focus is on alleviating hunger in the United States.

www.cswg.com
