Last October, Apple announced that there are now well over 1 million "apps" available for the iPhone. Most smartphones come with some measure of functionality right out of the box. However, you can greatly enhance your phone's capabilities by simply downloading some free additional apps.
While there are plenty of great time-wasting apps, here are some of the most useful apps to actually save yourself time and enhance your productivity:
To-Do-Lists: Any.do is a 'to-do list' app with a strange name. It lets you create lists, assign due-dates and schedule your life. It sends you alerts to remind you about what still needs to be done. And for the master procrastinator, you can always hit the snooze on tasks.

Read-It-Later: Pocket allows you to put articles, videos or pretty much anything into your 'Pocket'. You can easily save things you find and want to remember later. Save directly from your browser or from apps like Twitter, Facebook, Flipboard, and Pulse.

It is a crowd-sourced application that gathers some map data and other traffic information from its users. Using this information, it can provide more realistic driving time estimates as well as real-time traffic updates. People can also report traffic accidents, traffic jams, and police speed traps. Finally, Waze shows the cheapest fuel station near a user or along their route.

Find My iPhone: This app has been around for a long time, but it's still a gem. If your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac is lost or stolen, the Find My iPhone app will let you use another iOS device to find it and protect your data. Load this free app onto another iOS device, open it, and sign in with the Apple ID you use for iCloud. Find My iPhone will locate your missing device on a map as long as it is on. It can be remotely locked, play a sound, display a message, or erase all the data on it. Find My iPhone must be enabled in the iCloud settings on your device before you can locate it with this app.
