Albertsons Stores in Las Vegas Achieve Environmental Milestone

<p><strong>Las Vegas, NV</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Albertsons has announced that thirty of its stores in the Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder areas have achieved an environmental milestone. The stores have diverted more than 90 percent of all store waste from local landfills, according to a press release. The feat came through recycling, organic composting and food donations. Combined, these stores keep 21,170,340 million pounds of waste out of local landfills while also donating 3.5 million meals to local food banks and hunger relief efforts. Albertsons will commemorate the occasion by sponsoring the Earth Day coloring contest How My Family Reduces, Reuses and Recycles created for Las Vegas students in grades K-6.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Sue Klug, President of Albertsons Las Vegas and Southern California division, states, “Albertsons ultimate goal is to eliminate waste from store operations and I couldn’t be more proud of the leadership our Las Vegas Albertsons stores have show in this area.” Ms. Klug, continues, “Whether it be donating food to families in need or keeping millions of pounds of waste out of local landfills, we have seen how this effort makes a difference in our communities.
