WHITTIER, CA & SCHAUMBURG, IL - Amazon has almost become synonymous with expansion, as the company has continued on its growth streak so quickly that it’s tough to keep up—even though it’s my job to do so. Expanding its banner even more, the company announced the addition of two new Amazon Fresh stores, one in Whittier, California, and another in Schaumburg, Illinois.
The new California store, the fifth Amazon Fresh location in Southern California, opened on January 14, according to Whittier Daily News, after completing a lease and revitalizing a 90,000-square-foot Orchard Supply Hardware store. The new store is located in the Friendly Hills Marketplace at 15225 Whittier Blvd.
The other new store, expected to open Thursday, will be located at 16 E. Golf Road, in Schaumburg, Illinois. The 45,000-square-foot store will be only the second Amazon Fresh location to open to the public in Illinois, according to Yahoo! News. Amazon’s first store in the state opened in Naperville last month.
Both of the new locations will offer free same-day delivery and pick-up for Amazon Prime Members, and the new Whittier store will also feature Amazon’s Dash Carts, which allow shoppers to conveniently place items in their carts and be immediately charged upon leaving the store.
The new locations will also offer the company’s organics brand, 365 by Whole Foods Market, along with other Amazon exclusive brands, including Fresh and Cursive.
